The Great Dunmow window competition runs during the lead-up to the Great Dunmow Carnival. It is the perfect opportunity for businesses in the town to join in with the Carnival. If you’d like to take part, you need to decorate your window or part of your window with this year’s Carnival theme, which is ‘Olympic Cities.'
You will be judged on the following points:

How well you have followed this year’s theme.

How well you have linked it to your shop and/or the town.

How well you have used your space inside and/or outside the shop.
The winner will receive a trophy that can be on display in your shop until next year’s Carnival.
The winner and runners-up will be awarded a certificate that can be placed in your window. We will be taking pictures of all the decorated windows to post on social media.
Please have your display finished by the 2nd of September, and taken down at least a week after Carnival day. This gives the local community a chance to see your windows.
The judging will take place between the 4th and the 10th of September, and you will be unaware of when they will arrive. Once we have the results, we will be in touch to announce the winner.
Art competition
Children from local schools also take part in an Art Competition to design a poster fo the Great Dunmow Carnival. the winning entries will feature in the Carnival Programme and be displayed on our website.
This year there will be prizes for the following categories:
Best entry aged under 11
Best entry aged under 16
Overall Winners Prize

Each year Carnival fever takes over the town of Great Dunmow. As part of the celebrations we run a number of competitions to involve the local community in the event.
